SINGH M., KANAGASUNTHERAM R., Ho B.-C., YAP E.-H. and CHAN H.-L. 1975. Some aspects of the fine structure of the nervous system of the infective larva of Breinliu sergenti (Nematoda: Filarioidea). International Journalfor Parasitology 5: 165-170. The fine structure of some nervous elements of the infective larva of Breinliu sergenti has been studied. Both clear nerve cells and neurosecretory cells producing dense spherical vesicles and dense-cored vesicles have also been observed. A description of the nerve terminals and synaptic junctions in the nerve ring area is given. The possible role of the dense vesicles in this parasitic stage is discussed. INDEX

Abstract Background: Visceral larvae migrans (VLM) is the causative agent of acute and sub acute parasitic disease caused by the migration and establishment of second-stage larva of some Toxocara canis and Toxocara cati in human tissues. Human beings become infected by ingesting infective eggs or eating raw liver and heart of paratenic hosts (such as chicken, lamp and cow, etc) containing in...
متن کاملThe Arthropod-borne Onchocerciasis: Is It Deserved to Be Neglected?.
Onchocerciasis a filarial parasitic nematode, also known as river blindness and Robles disease, is a neglected tropical disease infecting more than 18 million people mainly in sub-Saharan of Africa, the Middle East, South and Central America and many other countries. Disease infectivity initiates from Onchocerca volvulus (Filarioidea: Onchocercidae) transmitted by the blackfly, Simulium sp. whi...
متن کاملCross-talks between the kidneys and the central nervous system in multiple sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory demyelinating disease, which is considered as a common autoimmune disorder in young adults. A growing number of evidences indicated that the impairment in non-neural tissues plays a significant role in pathology of MS disease. There are bidirectional relationship, metabolic activities and functional similarity between central nervous system (CNS) and k...
متن کاملADENOSINE IN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
Besides being a metabolite of nucleotides like ATP, adenosine is a mediator of neuronal function in the central nervous system. Its actions are mediated by at least three extracellular receptors. In this review different aspects of adenosine such as biosynthesis, release, inactivation and its receptors are discussed. It also covers pre- and postsynaptic effects as well as postreceptor mecha...
